On September 27, 2025, We All Rise hosted a community-centered breastfeeding workshop at 430 S. Webster Ave., led by our Health & Wellness Team — Lamecia Merchant, Community Health Worker, and A’tianna Merchant, Maternal Health Technician.
This gathering created a safe, affirming space for Black mothers, fathers, grandparents, and supporters to share their stories, learn from one another, and reflect on how breastfeeding connects to culture, family, and legacy.
Participants discussed both the beauty and the barriers of breastfeeding, emphasizing the importance of community support, representation, and culturally grounded maternal health care.
“This isn’t just a class,” one attendee shared. “It’s a reminder that our babies thrive when our community surrounds them with love.”
We All Rise extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined this conversation and to our dedicated facilitators, Lamecia and A’tianna, whose work continues to uplift maternal and family health in our community.
💛 Together, we’re building a culture where every Black family feels seen, supported, and surrounded with care.
