According to the 2015 census, the average median income for non-Hispanic African Americans households was $36,515 compared to $61,394 for non-Hispanic white households.
Mental Health Services
Per SAMHSA’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2015), 9.4% of African Americans over the age of 18 received mental health treatment or counseling in the past year as compared to 18.8% of non-Hispanic white adults. 6.6% of African American adults received prescription medications for mental health treatment as compared to 15.7% of non-Hispanic white adults.
In Green Bay, there are currently no crime victim services which are specific to the African American community. Furthermore there are no African American advocates at any of our traditional domestic violence and sexual assault service providers in the area
With regard to health insurance, 11% of African American individuals are uninsured compared to 6.3% of non-Hispanic whites (Office of Minority Health, 2019).
